#EUGreenWeek
EU Green Week 2020 will take place from 19-22 October 2020 and will focus on nature and biodiversity. Following the adoption of the new EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 in May, Green Week will highlight the contribution that biodiversity can make to society and the economy, and the role it can play in supporting and stimulating recovery throughout the world in the wake of the pandemic, creating jobs and sustainable development. This new strategy demonstrates that recovery is an opportunity for a fresh start, showing that transformational change is possible. This is an opportunity to rethink our relationship with nature, to change the activities that lead to the loss of biodiversity and worsen the ecological crisis, and to weigh up the implications this has on our economy and society. EU Green Week will look at how EU policies, such as the European Green Pact, can help protect and restore nature, giving it space to re-establish itself and prosper. This year’s Green Week will also mark a milestone on the road to the Conference of the Parties (COP 15) of the Convention on Biological Diversity, now scheduled for 2021, where world leaders will adopt a 10-year action plan for biodiversity: a new global deal for people and nature.
